Based on a true story. A selection of Big Apple Film Festival & Winner of Best Screenplay & Best Actress at Atlanta Independent Film Festival -Inspired by true events occurring inside Alabama's only women's prison, Tutwiler sheds light on the inhumane treatment & sexual abuse of the inmates. The women are subjected to perform sexual acts in order to receive necessities such as clothes, food, & toiletries. An orphanage was started, taking in all of the unwanted children that are born inside the prison, that are products of rape by the guards. Tutwiler hopes to make enough noise and raise enough awareness that a change is made! The writer and star of the film, Evan Elise Owens is currently in pre-production for another short film based on a true story out of Tutwiler Prison.
