Everyone is familiar with term ‘Made In China’, and everyone knows many of the products throughout their house are from China but we rarely get to see where these products come from or hear from the people involved. Most of these of these items came from the city Yiwu, which is not far from Shanghai. In China, each city is organized into Tiers based on their social and economic influence. Yiwu, a completely unknown city, is placed in the second Tier behind Beijing and Shanghai because of its manufacturing industry and it’s massive international trade. Since the 1970’s it has climbed to the top of the rapidly growing “Chinese Economic Pyramid”. Second Tier City follows 22 year old MeiMei who moved to Yiwu three years ago with dreams of finding success and is living her life in the “Worlds biggest mall”. Her Roommate Xiaoyu has just arrived and is overwhelmed by the opportunities there. For these newcomers and the outsiders who have always been there, what is their life like in Yiwu?
