THE PILGRIM

Synopsis:

A story about Roman who had a really turbulent life. After he dropped out of medical school, he left to Singapore and became a smuggler. He smuggled people and electronics. When he came back to Poland, he launched a career in a big corporation. His life seemed to finally to be on the right track until he got arrested and accused of crimes he had committed six years earlier. After he was released from prison he decided to start a new life. He became a writer of holy icons and started his pilgrimages across the world. In his own words, he wanted to “purge” himself. A divorced man, father of a twenty-year-old daughter, on a constant pilgrimage to repent for the errors of his past. We meet him when, along with a group of other former convicts, he is planning to walk from Poland to Moscow and back – some 4500 km. Along the way our main hero will face difficult questions and find answers hidden deep inside him. A pilgrimage devised to reconcile the West and East may turn out to be a road to a different kind of reconciliation. This path may lead to an unexpected end, at least from the human point of view of our hero.
