La dévoyée

Synopsis:

An oneiric exploration on La Traviata.

Runtime:
00:01:34
Information for the Audience:

This film holds a statement about the way classical music is perceived in modern time. It seems like there is still an

important part of musical institutions who prioritizes music from the past instead of focusing on music from today. The

noble aspect of classical music is represented by the use of oil paint, a medium which was also associated with the

bourgeoisie. On the other hand, the medium is not used in its traditional way. Instead, it is applied on the glass and

treated like watercolor. The music follows the same pattern. With variations of consistency, pitches, and notes really out

of tune, the aria "Addio del passato" is not serving the same purpose as it was in its original context. Finally, the whole

interpretation of the film is from a oneiric point of view. It takes place in the state between sleep and wakefulness, where

reality merges with dreams. This is why it transforms the sounds.
