Information for the Audience:
About a year and a half ago, I went to visit my grandparents in Shiraz, Iran; and that's when I started to work on the idea for my short film "Forget About It." The story is inspired by my grandparents' relationship during the late stages of my late grandfather's struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
My first and initial reaction to their situation as an observer was sadness, but it quickly transformed into love and patience as I spent more time with them.
It is very tragic witnessing your loved one regress to an unrecognizable state; however, the rare moments of clarity make everything absolutely worth while, because it reminds you that they are still in there somewhere.
I approached this film with a light tone as I personally feel that I connect more with heavy topics through comedic eyes and I wanted to tell the story through a grandchild's eyes, my own point of view, looking at my grandparents' current life.
"Forget About It." is my graduation film for the London Film School.
