Stanka is sewing clothes all day while her father spends his time drinking beer and playing chess with friends. When the night comes, she wakes up on her working desk only to find that her father isn't home.

When he comes back the next morning, she is angry with him, because he has bruises all over his face. They have an argument and moments later her father passes away. The doctor says that funerals aren't cheap and Stanka turns to the institutions for help. The municipality refuses to help her, as well as the social services. Having nothing left to do with the dead body, she wraps it up in one of the white sheets that she's sewing and drags it next to a trash can on the street.

The next morning Stanka is sewing clothes as usual when someone knocks on the door. As she stops sewing, the knocking becomes stronger and stronger.
