Rosana and Hermelinda, two illiterate peasants receive a letter from Pastor, from whom they have not had news for months. Anxious to know about the young husband's luck, Hermelinda and Pastor's mother begin a trip to the nearest village in search of somebody who can read the letter. Hermelinda´s pregnancy is not an impediment to undertake the march. Corina, the cow, hooked to a ramshackle cart will make the journey easier. After a long and troublesome day, the women arrive to the village and discover that the people have been attacked by a paramilitary group. In the middle of a scenario of death, the childbirth of Hermelinda anticipates. Later, Joaquín a deserter paramilitary capture the women. Caught in the middle of other people's war, Rosana and Hermelinda begin a journey to hell. In their escape, Rosana and Hermelinda discover that the ghost of war is nothing more than an extension of hatred, secrets and fear that we all carry in our souls.
