Logline: When his wife leaves him broke in China, a hardcore businessman wrestles against the idea to double-cross his Chinese friends—his adopted, dying daughter's only hope to stay alive.
Synopsis: KEVIN visits China with his adopted daughter YU, who has leukemia, to close a huge deal and find Yu's grandparents. Kevin and Yu visit director TUNG, the Chinese head of Kevin's project, and in an ancient village, meet doctor JING, who recognizes Yu's illness and gives her his medicine.
Kevin and Yu find the last known address of Yu's grandparents, which moved away years ago, leaving no traces behind them. MAX, the head of the American company in this project, explains to Kevin that his mission is to slow down the Chinese so that they do not finish the project in time, and director Tung must pay $15 million penalties. Kevin is unsure how to proceed; Yu is feeling better than ever, the villagers are all friendly, and director Tung does everything to help him with his job. Kevin's lawyer informs him that his wife emptied all his accounts, sold his house and cars, leaving Kevin and Yu with almost nothing in China.
Kevin introduces his changes to the villagers, who realize that they mean their end when Yu passes out, and Kevin brings her to doctor Jing, where they meet Yu's grandparents. On the decision day, Kevin chooses the villagers' changes over his, leaving Max pissed off. Director Tung offers Kevin a job at his company; the only thing Kevin must do to get it is to move to China. A single look at his daughter is for Kevin enough to make the right decision.
