The Triple Murder in Mulberry Bend is a film noir mystery story centred on a disgraced detective who recounts the events of a cold triple murder case from his past upon the arrival of the newly confessed murderer. The film was shot in the style of the classic 1940s and 50s American melodramas, and was based on a short story of the same name written by Christopher Hawthorne, published in the Black Mask pulp magazine in August 1920. The project was undertaken by a group of Film Production undergraduates at the University of Derby, and was completed for around six hundred pounds.
