'Singers' in the Band

Synopsis:

'SINGERS' in the Band exposes the role the United States military plays in fostering prostitution and trafficking of women worldwide. Embedding the compelling stories of at risk women and children within a broader framework of the complicated narrative about the sex trade and international politics, it painstakingly strips away the secrecy and deception that permits these practices to flourish. In doing so, this documentary is the first to show how U.S. bases, global sex trafficking, and prostitution are inextricably linked, creates massive marketing opportunities for traffickers, and how military culture itself is complicit in supporting the creation, maintenance and vitality of the sex trade. By highlighting this one particular aspect of militarism the documentary unmasks a facet of the sex industry that is virtually ignored.
