“Problem Solver” Synopsys

Action takes place in a peaceful small town. The laws of the possession of firearms are very strict here and order is enviable. However, the unexpected kidnapping of the mayor's son reveals the true cards of the matter - not everything is as good as it looks in this town.

The rumor about the missing child spreads all around the town and reaches a local hero who is better known as PROBLEM SOLVER. Nobody knows his true name, so it became as a real one. He is the former town benefactor, who solved all of the townsfolk problems. Now Problem Solver is a disappointed, detached man who works for the mayor JURIJUS LIETKEVICIUS in the construction of a garage. The mayor, shocked by the kidnaping of his own son LUKAS, asks Problem Solvers’ help who has no other choice but to agree.

In a strange twist of fate, Problem Solver together with KAROLINA who is searching for her brother suddenly get a call from DIONIZAS. The old friend informs them that he has information where the mayors’ son might be held. This information was treacherously shared with Dionizas by the local police officer VASALSKIS. The shady cop who already made his career with corruption is working side by side with his brother POLIS who hates and despises Problem Solver. Polis, who once went behind bars because of Problem Solver, wants revenge and together with his corrupted cop brother prepared a nasty plan in order to incite Problem Solver and the mayor, be in favor of the latter and be able to continue and expand his dirty business.

Meanwhile the three saviors get into the Problemobile (the car of Problem Solver) and take off to the rescue mission. Foreseeing that it might be tricky the rescuers visit an improvised weapon maker and once a good friend to Problem Solver – ARCIS. The friendship between Arcis and Problem Solver was cooled down by a love triangle with a girl but at the moment Arcis is excited to join the team and to help Karolina so he gives out all the weapons for free. On their way the group meets ERNESTAS - a street musician who knows every little detail about the town, its surroundings and its people. Ernestas becomes a guide to the group and they all venture to Subacius hangar where supposedly the mayor‘s son is kidnapped.

They succeed the mission way too easily. Problem Solver finds Lukas alone and tied to a chair. While untying the child as fast as he can he doesn‘t notice that he‘s being secretly photographed. Suspecting nothing they get into the Problemobile and happily rush home, but on their way they are ambushed by Polis and Vasalskis.  Polis’ loser gang splits Karolina head open and the felons have to re-think their plan. Instead of taking the daughter to the mayor they choose to convince him that Problem Solver is behind the injury. It‘s decided to kill the other rescuers.

Vasalskis proudly brings back home mayor‘s son, accuses Problem Solver of kidnapping the boy and as the kidnap proof shows fake pictures. While Jurijus is talking to the corrupt cop, Lukas climbs out the window, grabs his baseball bat and rides a bike to help Problem Solver. The brave boy is just on time to rescue the man from the cruelty of Vasalkis‘ assistant Giedrius. Problem Solver takes Giedrius‘ motorbike and at full speed storms to the hangar where Polis‘ accomplices keeping the trussed Karolina.

Nearby the hangar Problem Solver takes the secret cell phone, dials the number and asks for the Black Van to come to Subacius hangar. Afterwards he goes to rescue Karolina. During the chaotic wrestle one of the Polis gangs’ members is shot by mistake, the other gang member cruelly beats Problem Solver. Suddenly the Black Van arrives. This van is known among residents as a mystical frightening vehicle - when it arrives all of the problems or the people who are causing them just vanish. Nobody has seen it for many years. It was thought that it no longer exists because all of the problems are solved by Problem Solver. The mysterious Black Van driver in no time neutralizes all of the gang members.

“Problem Solver“ is the first feature movie by Marius Pocevicius. It is an ironic action comedy based on distinctive young director‘s sense of humor, targeting stereotypes that are alive in every small town and expressing individual artist‘s approach to character comedy and cinematography itself. The movie is very low budget and funded only by director‘s private savings. It is a dream come true for the director himself, movie actors and crucial turning point to all who were involved in the movie making. The film is full of original artistic solutions. The spectator will find a lot of fairy-tale, comic and absurd story telling twists in “Problem Solver“.
