Deep in the remote area of Northern Nepal, nested between the Tibetan/Nepalese border, the Upper Mustang-Tibetan Plateau, a tiny Himalayan village-Jharkot, lives a young couple, Doma- a quiet and strong farm girl and her flamboyant fiance Karluman, the only son of a lcoal farmer.

Modernization is gradually encroaching on this once isolated traditionl Nepali-Tibetan farming village, as he increasingly becomes restless, feeling imprisoned and yearning of a different life in the big city. He begs Doma for her inheried precious necklace; if he sell it for a good price, then they can start a new life.

Doma is forced to make a choice against her better judgement.

In the city, he befriends Manish, a slick young man who may just have a right buyer in mind for the precious necklace.

What will happen to Karluman and his big schemes?
