Messages at the border

Synopsis:

Over the last ten years, Sergi Cámara, a documentary photojournalist, has travelled many times to Ceuta and Melilla, two Spanish cities on the northern African coast which are, in fact, the Southern border of Europe. Every year, thousands of migrants escalate the 5 meter fence erected at the border in order to reach European soil. In this film we follow Sergi as he travels accross the continent to locate the migrants he had previously met and to take new pictures documenting their current situation. He also asks them to write a message to the migrants arriving on a daily basis at Ceuta´s temporary transit center (CETI). In Ceuta, Sergi hangs the new pictures and the messages on the walls of the CETI.Through the photographer´s work, the film weaves together the stories from people who have just crossed with those of others who have already spent a few years trying to build a new life in Europe, thus creating a powerful, vivid portrayal of a migrant´s experience.
