Pope Innocent VIII edits the desiderantes Summis bull, naming the Dominican inquisitor, Heinrich Kramer to combat witchcraft in Germany. Kraemer recruits mercenaries investing them Knights of the Order of the Cross, in order to hunt, process, torture, and kill the witches. Michael, the Sword of God, is the group leader, considered the most bloody and ruthless of the knights. The Knights and Kraemer became famous by cruelty acts to obtain the confession of witchcraft charges. In a village near the Carpathian Mountains on Transylvania border, the Knights looked for women who were deemed witches, devoted to a Mother Goddess cult.
