KAVAR

Synopsis:

Kavar is the shared name of a cluster of Kurdish villages in the east of Turkey. When the peasants of Kavar were finally able to return to their villages after having had to flee in the 1990s, as a result of armed conflict between Turkish Army and Kurdish Guerillas, they had to build their lives from scratch. But life today, as it has been before, is far from being generous to the people (of Kavar). A peasant trying to protect his corn field from the attack of the wild boars, a young beekeeper trying to stand on her own as an independent woman despite her oppressive family, a father’s journey to Kobane (Syria) to find his young daughter who has joined the fight to defend Kurdish cities from ISIS… This is the name of the land where heavy price is paid to have an ordinary life…
This movie tells the story of those who have never succumbed to injustices, frustrations, and hardships, and never lost the will to rebuild life. Perhaps it is mostly the story of the women of Kavar, and the euphoria of nature...
