João Borges was born in Belo Horizonte, where he lives and works. His films integrated the programming of relevant national and international festivals, such as: Visions du Réel – Switzerland, Tiradentes - MG, Directors Week - RJ, Festival Mondial des Cinémas Sauvages – Belgium, Belo Horizonte Short Film Festival, International Festival of Ethnographic Film -RJ, Miradas Cycle (Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay), Free Film Festival - RJ, Cine Amazonia, among others. His first short film, Cajaíba (2011) has been screened at Channel Brazil and it was awarded with an honorable mention at Lume Film Festival. Tiger (2013) is his second film and it was awarded with honorable mention at CurtaCinema Festival - RJ and was nominated by the Brazilian Academy of Cinema as best short film in 2014. In 2015 he's produced the documentary Moto-perpétuo (Perpetual Motion) with funds from Clovis Salgado Foundation and BDMG stimulus award to cinema. Kappa Crucis (2016) is his fourth short film, and it has been made possible by Filme em Minas, a program for the development of cinema.
