The Immigrant

Synopsis:

Jasmina, an immigrant from Bosnia Herzegovina, works several low-paying jobs. At an event she caters, she meets Hunter, an equally lonely but aimless young man from a privileged Boston family. They are strongly drawn to each other, and yet find themselves at odds. She attempts to navigate vast economic, social and cultural differences all the while she' s struggling to make a dignified life for herself in an alien society. At night she cleans offices and starts stealing phone calls to her family in Bosnia. Karen, the lawyer who works there confronts her, and later tries to help. Jasmina lands a gig as a fashion model, but those jobs are degrading and hard to come by. The stock market crashes and Hunter has to help his family. He withdraws back to life of empty thrills. Jasmina decides to leave for NY. Hunter finally connects with his dad and makes a life changing decision. Similarly Jasmina, having a change of heart, makes a decision to pursue what matters in her life.
