Heartland in the Hood

Synopsis:

Rural U.S.A. meets urban America. In the dramatic action feature Heartland in the Hood, a Nebraska farmer, grounded in traditional American family values, struggles to keep his family together as they lose their farm but inherit a store in the hood on the south side of Chicago. Cody, a vet, protects and provides for his family through the clash of their values with urban realities. The family confronts gang violence, economic hardships as small business owners, and dilemmas that arise from the incongruity of their rural worldview to inner-city realty. Cody’s strength comes from his love for family, moral center, and military experience. His family is challenged to balance legalistic ethics with compassionate loving morality. The drama also deals with larger, universal themes such as the human condition, the nature of the American city/rural dichotomy, and the national culture. Bad-ass vet redneck in the hood.
