The First Amendment

Synopsis:

“The First Amendment”

Half-hour sitcom pilot.

Logline:

A renegade mayor, confronted with a career-ending sentence, schemes with her assistant, whose only positive trait is that he drinks faster than he lies.

Synopsis:

Police stop SARAH and receive a Viking's welcome from Sarah’s co-driver, the orangutan NIGEL that Sarah stole from a zoo (Sarah wanted a penguin).

Sarah introduces Nigel to her husband VICTOR, who spends the night with Nigel. Sarah struggles to remember what she did last night while Victor searches for Nigel, and their lawyer, GEORGE, reveals them Sarah’s behavior, from the previous night on tape for which a judge, Sarah’s former “friend,” is now on the warpath against Sarah. George delivers Sarah a contract from the judge, which demands that Sarah gets an assistant and takes part in an anti-aggression class, or she lands in prison. Sarah meets her new assistant, a gorgeous speaking parrot PEPE, who drinks faster than he flies. Pepe escorts Sarah to a press conference, where Pepe ingeniously helps her to survive the reporters.

Sarah brings Pepe to her home and finds Victor in bed with Nigel (Victor thought it was Sarah, and no, Nigel was not insulted by that). The family votes to keep Pepe and Sarah keeps Nigel, who is Prince Charles’ monkey, on the run after a couple of misunderstandings in Great Britain and the rest of the world.
