Channa the protagonist of the film is a capital punishment convict. He is educated and sensible. He was born to an irresponsible father who never bothered to support the family financially nor morally. His hardworking mother was only reason for the family’s sustainability. When Channa had to bear the family responsibilities, he without choice was pushed to robbery by his friend. His teacher also refused to warn of this ill career. Channa continues to practices robbery for his survival.During a Robbery attempt,he is forced to kill a House owner.
This murder that he commits makes the court of law pronounce death sentence to him. He by hiding the actual motive behind the murder accepts that he murdered because he feared getting caught by the landlord of the house that he went to rob.
On the dawn of his execution, he recollects his short life of irregularities. His thoughts buried in his subconscious wakes up and erupt out as a dream, where he questions his close friend who took him into robbery, his irresponsible father and his teacher who was scared to correct his mistakes. His own consciousness answers his questions and takes the blames.
The warden wakes him from his dream, hands over a set of cloths and instructs him to get ready. When Channa is ready, the Jailer walks into the cell and reads the punishment notice about the death sentence to be executed in sometime. At this point, Channa picks up an intense conversation with the jailer about the existence of CAPITAL PUNISHMENT.
He puts his perceptions about human rights and law. The Jailer tries his best to bounce back to Channa’s views.Though the debate looks balanced, Channa’s hand looks high in many points. During the conversation both Channa and Jailer lose their temperament but recover back the normality and try to prove their stand right.
When he stands on the gallows, he recollects the incident that motivated the murder which was not revealed by him even to the court of law for his own justification.
This film waits to give an experience of reinforcement of the value of human life that prevails in every audience’s soul and body.
