Born in the city of Porto, on 1980. José Alberto Pinheiro founded the underground production group Vigilia Filmes in 2000. In 2001 he released his first experimental short-film "Closer", debuting at the Up And Coming Film Festival Hannover - Germany. An american tour of this first work, integrated on Microcinema's Halloweird program followed soon after. Since then, his provocative guerilla works have been presented at several exhibitions and festivals in Germany, Portugal, Poland, Spain, France, United States of America, Mexico... He has worked on Film and tv, both in fiction and documentary. In 2014 he received the Cineuphoria award for best documentary and released his first mainstream feature length movie, reaching the top 5 of the national Portuguese box office.
