Art Connect

Synopsis:

Art Connect is a feature length documentary film that that reveals and illuminates how creativity has inspired and changed the lives of 'at risk' kids, aged twelve to sixteen, living in the disenfranchised and volatile area of Laventille -- Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Supported by professionals in the areas of art, poetry, music and dance we witness these children touch their own light, open to their unique voices and rhythms -- we see them discover a safe haven within their openness and vulnerability - in the sharing of their truths we see them validate and affirm their experiences.

With access to Go Pro cameras we watch them acknowledge the vastness of their imaginations, hopes and fears, giving us access into their intimate spaces as well as their inner landscape and dreams.

Art Connect portrays a two-year process of transformation of 8 kids that undergo 3 artistic workshops: the first one devoted to art and painting, the second focusing on poetry and music and the last one based on dance and theatrical expression. The 3 workshops are conducted by a number of invited artists who are specifically committed to education and social change.

The film documents their process and captures the genuine transformation of these dynamic children.
