In the Carpathian-Danubian space during the spring equinox, the Knight Trac god, died and then rise. He was represented in two rival forms: the Horse God incarnated in man, and that of the people who disguised Horse. The latter, also called Căluşari, had to chase evil spirits, Fairies. It is an ancient ritual that dramatizes opposition between the Sun and the Moon, the Good and the Evil, the known and the unknown, which is still practiced today on the day of Pentecost as the "Căluş". Since 2008 it is part of the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage.
