SILO

Synopsis:

Mario Rodríguez Cobos was born January 6th, 1938 in Godoy Cruz, Mendoza.

When he was 22 years old, he founded politic and philosophic groups, trying to decipher how the world has been dehumanized. Many young people began to gather around Silo, preparing to transform their personal life and their social environment simultaneously. The parents denounced the disappearance or the change of identity of their children and the police launched a series of raids.

In 1969, Silo arrived at Punta de Vacas, inhospitable place on the border of Chile and Argentina. He builds a hermitage made of stones so that he could meditate the fate of his creation, while he prepared himself for his first public appearance. In the andean solitude, Silo wrote "The Inner Look ", central book of his message.

On May 4th, 1969, around 200 young people approached the recondite Punta de Vacas, where Silo pronounced his famous harangue in which he posed that "the healing of mental suffering is possible as long as our own life is oriented towards non contradictory actions".

The siloists denounced the massive raids. In Chile and Argentina, the exile accelerated, that would take many members of the movement to tour the world.

Later, in the islands of Corfú and Canarias, with a group of study, the works of Descriptive Psychology were developed. The study Step was coming to an end. There were missions to radiate the doctrine in Latin America, Europe and Asia. The Tour of 1980 included massive conferences in Rome, Berlin, Sri Lanka, Paris, San Francisco and the D.F.

In 1993, the muscovite Science Academy awarded him with an honorary doctorate In Argentina, he was still unknown.

In 1999, 30 years after his first harangue, Silo returned to Punta de Vacas to exclaim: "We have failed. I recognize the triumph of antihumanism and the failure of our values. But winners do not have their futures insured".

In 2005, the first Parks of Study and Reflection are created. Today there are thirty parks in four continents.

In 2008, with the impulse of Silo, the World March for Peace and Nonviolence began to be projected. During the March, Silo made a conference before the Nobel Prizes in Berlin.

Silo died on September 16, 2010, at his home with his family. His ashes were scattered in the Parks of Study and Reflection of the world.
