This film is based on an early play by Anton Chekhov. Chekhov never published it, it was found in his inheritance and was first published as "Play without Title". In this movie we have not only changed the main focus from Platonov to Sonja, the female character, but set the story in contemporary Germany: a society very reminiscent to pre-revolutionary Russia. It is a comedy of manners, a drama and a love story at the same time...
