Povodni Mož

Synopsis:

The construction of the film is based on the famous Slovene poetry of France Prešeren "Povodni Mož" and is one of his most famous work. Poem is about a man who rises from the Ljubljanica river to grab and seduce Urška, best known for its beauty, deep down the river. The film is inspired by this poem but the story is happening at the present time with the touch of a mysterious past.
The main character, Urška, under the influence of schizophrenia, is struggling throughout life with a series of mischief, prejudices and a sense of discomfort and fear. It distorts or completely makes it impossible to distinguish real experiences or experiences from unrealistic ones. Because of the misidentification of reality, logical thinking loses its usual direction and runs inexplicable in illogical tracks. In life, difference is either an advantage or a problem, depending on how we look at it. In this, not only is the acceptance of the self-distinctiveness, but the society in which an individual who is different lives.

DESCRIPTION OF THE MOVIE:
“The dark sky above the lake blurred the young Urška with a view of the water surface. At first she does not believe her eyes, on what it is true. From the depths of the lake she sees the floating body of a young boy. Immediately she fled from the pier to the house of her parents. Few years later, Urška wakes up in a new environment, without a family other than her uncle. She works diligently and proudly in the library. There are strange things happening there, such as giggling young boy, seeing her shadow as the other person from whom she cannot escape. It invites her to dance, which she later participates in. At the ball she sees a mysterious man, whose name is unknown. They dance together the whole night. The next morning she goes to the road on which she also meets him. Urška is more and more sure that she knows him already and that they are actually closer and more familiar than she thought. On the same day, they go to the house of her deceased parents, where they hide in the embrace for the very last time before the big end. That night, they have the last dance and slowly go down to the lake where the truth lies. Urškin's memory begins to be renewed. The boy whom she discovered as a younger man in the lake is actually him, and only her illusion of a dead boy. Shortly afterwards, they vanish to a deep lake where she washes her sins as a young man's killer and the shadow that followed her until her older years was her second personality to blame for the boy's death”.

Information for the Audience:

Dear Audience!

I think everybody can find something to see in this movie and connected it to their own lives. It was made with that reason. Because everybody has a different point of view generally, the movie was made in that sense so everyone can see their story in it. It is really interesting how many different stories I heard but there was always one detail in it that was the same: the end was a happiness and satisfaction for a viewer.

See you at festivals!
