Corpse Party

Synopsis:

Corpse Party

One rainy night after a school festival, a group of students from Kisaragi High School decide to perform the "Sachiko Ever After" charm, which will unite them forever as friends. Once the ritual is done, a sudden earthquake transports them to Heavenly Host, an elementary school that was torn down following the murders and disappearances of several of its staff and students. Unbeknownst to Naomi and her classmates, however, is the horrific past behind it which culminated in its demolition. As they look for each other and try to escape from Heavenly Host, they soon find out their lives are at the mercy of those affected by that same bloodied past.

Director’s Statement

I’ve directed a number of school-set horror films, but in “Corpse Party”, there are hints of young love, and with all the intermingling of personalities, the character development is quite complex! I want to stay true to the feel of the original work, while also depicting the unique brand of live-action terror, and interwoven psychologies - young people cut off from everyday life, wandering into and chased through an unfamiliar world and then fighting for their lives.
